INSURANCE: ALL PERSONS
ATTENDING
THE RALLY OR SOCIAL EVENTS DO SO ENTIRELY AT THEIR
OWN RISK. NO RESPONSIBILITY FOR PERSON OR
PROPERTY IS ACCEPTED BY THE ORGANISERS.
If a member is injured or his property damaged or he
damages the landowners or another member’s property, he
can only claim against the Caravan Club under
it’s policy providing he can prove negligence on the part of the Rally
organisers or landowners.
He can not claim in connection with his own acts or
those of other members or their families. Indeed members are
advised to make their own arrangement to insure
against their own negligence. This is a matter which is normally
provided by the third party section of a motor
car policy or a caravan policy or perhaps a personal liability policy,
which is sometimes included with a normal
householders policy where vehicles are not involved.
Perhaps it should be mentioned that while the
Road Traffic Acts make it necessary for car drivers to insure their
third party liability for personal injury to
others they do not make third party insurance for the property damage
compulsory. However, most members will have
policies covering damage to property as well as injury, although if
they do not, then any damage to a third party,
i.e. a fence, or outbuildings on a farm, might well have to be made
good out of their own pockets.
The normal policy issued for a caravan thorough
Caravan Club Headquarters, or for example by the Sun Alliance
and London Insurance Group does include full
third party risks and if a members has this Caravan Policy a Comprehensive
Motor Insurance and also personal Liability
Policy he will have protected himself as far as possible
against third party claims.
