THE YOUTH SECTION –
WHAT’S IT ALL ABOUT?
The youth section of the
Lincolnshire Centre is run by an enthusiastic committee of young persons for
the benefit of all the young members of the Centre.
Under the guidance of an adult committee member, the Youth committee
help to plan and run events throughout the rally year for the enjoyment of
our younger members.
The Youth Committee is a
group of young adults, between the ages of 11 and 18, who have the interests
of all youngsters at heart. It
has its own Chairman and controlling officers as well as its own funding for
spending on equipment and activities for all children within the
Lincolnshire Centre.
Each year the Youth
Committee run two rallies, one in the summer and one at Halloween, as well
as having an active part in helping at bonfire and Christmas party rallies.
Despite the wet weather, both youth rallies in 2008 were very
successful. Children and parents
all enjoyed the canoeing at Oakhill in June and there was a great party
atmosphere at the fancy dress Halloween Monster Bash. There are however
various children’s activities and themed rallies run throughout the year by
other more senior rally marshals.
Throughout the rally
year, at various rally venues, there is a cycle competition run exclusively
for the children. All details of
dates and venues are in the rally book.
Membership to the Youth
Committee is not an exclusive club.
Provided that a young rallier is a family member of a Lincolnshire
Centre member, and between the ages of 11 and 18 years, they are eligible to
join the Youth Committee.
However, the number of committee places is limited and committee members are
normally elected at the AGM in October. Remember, just because you are not
on the committee, it does not prevent you from giving your ideas for
activities. Just see one of the
committee or the YLO.
On behalf of the
2008/2009 Youth Committee, we look forward to seeing you all on the rally
field.
